RESEARCH PHILOSOPHY
Product research should serve three goals:
Illustrate the experience of the user as clearly, empathetically, and as faithfully as possible.
Foster empathy among stakeholders through clear communication.
Connect insights to opportunities for product innovation.
Empathy is key to my research philosophy because when we create, design, and engineer for as many people as possible, we build a solid foundation for world-class products.
Qualitative Research
My approach to qualitative research focuses on understanding the complete context of the user and how that context contributes to their relationship with the product or service. Uncovering this relationship is key to a clearer understanding of user behavior. I specialize in moderating qualitative interviews within the following areas:
1:1 in-depth interviews
Dyad + Triad Interviews
Youth Interviews (13+)
In addition to interviewing, I have extensive training and experience with the following methods:
Diary Studies
Journey Mapping
Quantitative Research
Quantitative research is my bread and butter as I focused heavily on quantitative methods in my graduate school training. My command of quantitative methods includes:
Behavioral & Log Data Analysis
Statistical Analysis (ANOVA, regression, SEM)
Survey design, development and deployment
Survey Tools: Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey
Experimental Design
International Research
My international experience covers several markets: EMEA, APAC, LATAM, India. In the last 2 years I’ve developed cultural fluency in APAC markets including Japan, Korea, India, and Thailand. Empathy and context-gathering are especially important in international work because of unique nuances in language and cultural context, so in international markets I always work with local vendors to provide background and immersive context.
